đ NeuMat Spotlight: Two Major Neuromorphic Computing Events Coming to Southampton, 2â3 March 2026
The University of Southampton is set to become a hub of neuromorphic innovation this March, hosting two consecutive highâprofile events that bring together leading researchers, emerging technologies, and new UKâwide initiatives in the field. Held on 2â3 March 2026, the programme promises to showcase cuttingâedge advances across devices, materials, algorithms, and architectures for nextâgeneration computing.
đ Day 1 â Launch of the ECS Centre for Neuromorphic Technologies (CeNT)
đ
Monday 2 March 2026
đ University of Southampton
The programme opens with the official launch of the ECS Centre for Neuromorphic Technologies (CeNT)âa major new hub for UK neuromorphic research. This halfâday event will feature:
- Keynote lectures from IBM Research (Switzerland) and the CogniGron Centre (Netherlands)
- Short research talks from CeNT members across electronics, materials, and computing
- A poster session highlighting recent breakthroughs
- An editorial panel discussion with journal representatives
- A networking reception to connect researchers, industry partners, and students
The launch will also spotlight broader neuromorphic activities across Southampton and introduce several new UK-wide neuromorphic computing initiatives.
đ Further event details and registration available via Eventbrite.
âď¸ Day 2 â 1st International Workshop on Molecular Ion-Based Neuromorphic Computing (POMORPHICS)
đ
Tuesday 3 March 2026
đ University of Southampton
Following the CeNT launch, Southampton will host the inaugural POMORPHICS Workshop:
âMolecular Ion-Based Neuromorphic Computing: from Polyoxometalates to Nanofluidic Ionotronics.â
Coâorganized with the Leibniz Institute of Surface Engineering (IOM), Germany and sponsored by the Royal Society of Chemistry, this workshop brings together international experts exploring ionic, molecular, and fluidic approaches to neuromorphic devices.
Confirmed invited speakers include:
- Prof Francesca Santoro â Juelich / RWTH Aachen, Germany
- Dr Kazuya Terabe â National Institute for Materials Science, Japan
- Dr Sreetosh Goswami â Indian Institute of Science, India
- Prof Fabrizio Torricelli â University of Brescia, Italy
- Prof Ilia Valov â Juelich / RWTH Aachen, Germany
Spaces for POMORPHICS are limited, and participants are encouraged to register early.

đ Registration & Participation
Both events are free to attend, but separate registration is required for each day.
Participantsâespecially earlyâcareer researchersâare warmly encouraged to contribute posters showcasing their latest work.
đ A Unique Opportunity for the Neuromorphic Community
Together, these two events form a highly complementary programme, bringing device physicists, materials chemists, computer architects, and emerging neuromorphic researchers into one shared space. Whether your interests lie in nanoscale ionic systems, largeâscale architectures, unconventional algorithms, or the future of AI hardware, these events promise valuable insights and collaborations.
