The NeuMat Network is delighted to announce the call for project proposals for its Summer Undergraduate Studentships 2026. These prestigious 8-week placements offer undergraduate students—typically in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year—a unique opportunity to gain hands-on research experience in neuromorphic materials and computing, while exploring pathways towards PhD-level study.
Programme Objectives
- Deliver high-quality research training for students considering doctoral studies.
- Provide interdisciplinary exposure across materials, devices, and systems in neuromorphic computing.
- Foster collaboration between academic institutions and industry partners.
- Strengthen the UK neuromorphic research community by developing the next generation of researchers.
Funding and Support
Each awarded project will receive £4,000, covering student expenses such as travel, accommodation, and subsistence for the full 8-week placement.
Eligibility
Proposals are invited from:
- Academic partners (universities, research institutes).
- Industrial partners with active research programmes aligned to NeuMat themes.
Projects should provide meaningful, hands-on experience for one student during June–September 2026.
