NeuMat Spotlight: Workshop on the Theory of Neuromorphic Computing

NeuMat is delighted to spotlight the forthcoming Workshop on the Theory of Neuromorphic Computing, taking place at the University of Liverpool on 9 June 2026, bringing together researchers interested in the mathematical and theoretical foundations of neuromorphic computing.

While neuromorphic hardware has developed rapidly and shown clear advantages in energy efficiency, corresponding theory has not kept pace. This workshop will focus on algorithms, computational complexity and rigorous models of neuromorphic systems, with the aim of enabling meaningful comparisons with classical models of computation. A key theme will be how to account for energy‑related resources, such as spikes and synaptic operations, alongside more traditional measures like time and space.

Attendance is free of charge, but registration is required by 3rd June 2026 to support logistics and catering.

There may also be limited support for student expenses, helping to widen access and support participation by early‑career researchers.
