Royal Society Hooke Discussion and Industry Events

NeuMat is delighted to share a major set of Royal Society-led events exploring the future of neuromorphic computing, bringing together world-leading expertise across academia and industry.

Organised by Prof. Judith Driscoll, Prof. Stuart Parkin, Dr Seb Dixon, Prof. Steve Furber and Prof. Tony Kenyon, this three-day programme will take place from 23-25 November 2026, convening a global community to address one of the most pressing technological challenges of our time.

A critical moment for AI and neuromorphic innovation

The current trajectory of AI, where computational demand is doubling approximately every 2-3 months, is widely recognised as unsustainable. Neuromorphic, brain-inspired technologies offer a compelling alternative: delivering transformative gains in energy efficiency without compromising performance.

Realising this opportunity requires deep collaboration across materials, devices, systems and applications - a central theme underpinning both the Discussion Meeting and the associated industry-facing event.

Event overview

The programme comprises two complementary elements:

  • Royal Society Hooke Discussion Meeting (23–24 November 2026)
A two-day meeting bringing together leading academic researchers to explore the fundamental advances and challenges in neuromorphic computing. The event is designed to stimulate new thinking and foster interdisciplinary collaboration across the field.
  • Transforming our Future Event (25 November 2026)
A one-day event focused on translation, impact and future directions. This session will broaden the conversation to include industry engagement, real-world applications and long-term technological trajectories.

Together, these events offer a unique opportunity to connect foundational research with the pathways needed to deliver next-generation computing technologies.

Call for posters

A poster session will be held on Monday 23 November 2026, providing an opportunity for researchers to showcase emerging work and engage directly with the community.

To submit a poster proposal, please provide:

  • Title
  • Abstract (maximum 200 words)
  • Author list
  • Name and institution of the presenting author

Submission deadline: Friday 23 October 2026

Online submissions can be made by visiting the link below.

Registration and attendance

Both events are free to attend, reflecting a shared commitment to accessibility and community-building across the neuromorphic research landscape.

Key information:

  • Venue: The Royal Society, 6-9 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1Y 5AG
  • Format: Hybrid (in-person and virtual attendance available)
  • Registration: Advance registration is essential
  • Flexible attendance: Participants may attend any combination of the three days

Join the conversation shaping the future of computing

These events represent a significant moment for the neuromorphic community - offering a platform to exchange ideas, build collaborations and accelerate progress towards sustainable, high-performance computing.

NeuMat warmly encourages researchers, innovators and industry stakeholders to take part in this important dialogue.
