NeuMat is delighted to announce its sponsorship of an exciting Summer Studentship for 2026, delivered in partnership with the UK neuromorphic research community.
The studentship forms part of a joint initiative between NeuroSYNC (UK Multidisciplinary Centre for Neuromorphic Systems and Computing), NeuMat, and NeuroWare (the UK Innovation & Knowledge Centre in Neuromorphic Computing), reflecting our shared commitment to strengthening the UK’s neuromorphic ecosystem.
A unique opportunity to shape the UK neuromorphic landscape
This 8-week studentship, hosted by NeuroSYNC at Aston University, will support the development of a new national online platform for the UK neuromorphic community. The platform aims to provide a unified space to:
- Showcase UK-wide neuromorphic research activities and capabilities
- Strengthen collaboration across institutions and disciplines
- Support the development of the future UK Neuromorphic Roadmap
The successful student will play a central role in designing and building this platform, contributing both technical and creative input to a high-visibility national initiative.
Project overview
Project title: Developing the UK Neuromorphic Community Online Platform
Host: NeuroSYNC (Aston University)
Duration: 8 weeks
Start date: Tentatively 22 June 2026
Eligibility: UK-based Bachelor’s and Master’s students
The project will include:
- Developing a comprehensive overview of UK neuromorphic institutions, activities, and capabilities
- Supporting the creation of community-facing content
- Conducting landscape and competitor analysis of similar research and technology platforms
- Assisting with drafting, editing, and coordinating digital communications
- Contributing to platform design, structure, user experience, and visual identity
Skills and experience
We welcome applicants with an interest in neuromorphic computing, digital platforms, and research communities. Useful experience includes:
- Website development platforms (e.g. WordPress, Wix, GoDaddy)
- Digital content creation, design, and communications
- Familiarity with AI tools and AI-assisted workflows
- Basic coding or scripting skills (e.g. HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Interest in UX design, branding, and online community building
- Strong research, writing, and organisational skills
This studentship is particularly well suited to students who enjoy working at the interface of technology, communication, and community development.
